The current method of casino dealer training in Australia is a lengthy process involving the following:
- an application to a local casino;
- If short listed, potential candidates are put through a series of interviews to assess their suitability to the nature of the work and the work place environment – involving mental arithmetic tests, character profiling and customer service orientation;
- If a candidate makes it to the final round of interviews the above testing continues and the training places will be granted to those “lucky” candidates.
This interview process is long and arduous for a number of reasons, but primarily the HR department must find the best possible candidates for the limited training positions available within the company resource restrictions. So a casino trainee candidate goes through a hiring process similar to the aforementioned process without ever touching a casino chip, playing card or casino table.
